There were days I would rather spend time at my grandparents drive-in restaurant the Dizzy Dip than go to school.
But what kid would rather spend time away from school, right!
Most of my knowledge today about life and business comes from experiences my grandparents and parents taught me in their business or life.
As a young lad, I spent time working for my grandparents (don’t tell the labor board) at their drive-in restaurant in Pritchard, AL.
I would work the grill making Big Dizzy burgers or my special hamburger steak. Frying up french fries, dressing out foot long hot dogs or making up my special ice cream sundae at the dessert counter.
I was taught the meaning of a good days labor and how to treat your customers with respect and dignity.
…plus just think of the all the free food my grandmother let me eat!
I soon began working with my father’s construction company after that and picked up construction skills.
Not only did I learn how to build, repair and remodel residential and commercial projects, I picked up estimating and project management skills. I was 16 years old estimating and project managing construction projects for my dad.

Then within the last few years, I have been traveling around the Southeast, Northeast and some into the Midwest working as an independent claims adjuster on light, wind and hail claims as well as hurricane claims for homeowners.
And for the last 4 years, I’ve been training adjusters.
As you can see I’ve had a lot of experience in the restaurant business, construction and customer service all over the Eastern part of the country.
One of my passions is to visit and eat at old, family run and operated diners and restaurants.
…I love finding a good diner and getting a great home cooked meal.
And traveling around this great country is another fantastic opportunity I’m glad I had.
That’s why this blog is passion of mine. I want to tell people about all of the great people and places around our country.
It is about the Gulf Coast’s of Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas…places to eat, places to visit and see and places to enjoy.
So if you can eat at it, play at it or explore at it…we’ll blog about it.
Come and Check Out the Gulf Coast.
