You Can’t Sink These Ducks! Gulf Coast Ducks Are On Tour Again In Mobile Alabama

Gulf Coast Ducks Boat Tours Mobile Alabama

After a recent news report stating that the Gulf Coast Ducks boat tour was closing and not coming back, the popular land and water tour is back in business.  However, the question is…what is a Gulf Coast Duck and what does it do?

Gulf Coast Ducks is a land and water tour of historic downtown Mobile Alabama and the Mobile Bay area. Renovated and modified World War II & Korean War DUKW’s (amphibious vehicles) are used to ferry passengers around Mobile and the bay and bring history to life.

These amphibious vehicles transformed into touring vessels showcase the history of Mobile Alabama, the USS Alabama Battleship and Memorial Park and surrounding areas.

How Much Does Riding A Gulf Coast Duck Cost?

General admission tickets start at $29 for adults.  $26 for seniors, military and educators.  Children from 3 to 12 are $16 and children under 3 years of age are FREE!

After purchasing your tickets online or at the ticket office on Royal Street at The Fort of Colonial Mobile, you can come on board 15 minutes before the tour begins.

You can park across the street from The Fort of Colonial Mobile which is located at 150 South Royal Street.  This area is free to park in during the evening hours and weekends.  Two hour parking is available at this location during Mardi Gras around the Mardi Gras Park on Church Street.  Two hour free parking is also located on Theatre and Monroe Street.

When Do The Ducks Go Waddling? – Gulf Coast Ducks Schedule

Normal operating hours are August and September, Thursday through Sunday 10am to 5:30pm

Tours begin at 10:00am and 11:30am in the mornings. The afternoon schedule is 1:00pm, 2:30pm, 4:00pm and 5:30pm.

All tours last 60 minutes.

What About Feeding Time?

Water, soda, snacks and candy can be purchased at the gift shop or you can bring you own aboard.

It is recommended that you go to the “potty” before the tour, as there are no restrooms onboard.

No pets.  But, service animals are allowed.  Just call ahead and ask for a reservation.

No strollers are allowed.  However, no car seats are required for the little ones as these boats do not have seat belts.  The seats will accommodate two at a time, so you can bring the baby carrier to hold the baby.  An area to store your stroller is provided, however, Gulf Coast Ducks cannot be responsible for loss or stolen items.

Remember, everyone needs a ticket to reserve a spot.

And of course, alcohol is not allowed.

Unfortunately, Gulf Coast Ducks boats are not handicap accessible due to the amphibious nature of the vehicles.  Steps are present and will have to be utilized to board and off board the craft.
