Docked at the Western shore of Mobile Bay, sits the famous USS Alabama built in the early 1040’s after her service in WWII and Korea.
The USS Alabama was designated BB-60, a battleship started on February 1st, 1940, launched & commissioned in 1942 and received Nine Battle Stars for meritorious service along with her crew of 2,500. She now resides at the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park in Mobile, Alabama on the West side of Mobile Bay.
The USS Alabama Battleship is number four of four South Dakota class battleships built by Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA. Most of its action was against Japan in World War II and some Korean War engagements.
The park is broken up into several sections to give visitors a variety of history elements to view.
Where Is The USS Alabama Battleship Location – The USS Alabama Battleship is located at 2703 Battleship Parkway in Mobile, AL 36603. It is on the grounds of the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park just to the South of what the locals call “The Causeway”.
Are There USS Alabama Battleship Tours And Where Can I Purchase Tickets?
All tours are self-guided and tour guides are available at the ticket stand. Ticket are sold for access to the park and the battleship. Admission is free to all of our active duty military personnel and children under the age of 5.
General admission for children between the ages of 6 to 11 is $6 ($5 for children of active duty military with ID), and children the age of 12 and up is $15. Senior citizens age 55 and up gain admission for $13. AAA members (with card present at purchase) is $13 as well as active duty military dependents ages 12 and up with ID is $13. To receive discounts, proper ID’s must be shown at time of purchase.
Group admission discounts are available. And access to the battleship, USS Drum submarine and the aircraft pavilion is included.
Tickets can also be purchase online at TripHobo, TripAdvisor and Viator (3% cash back with Rakuten).
Hours Of Operation – Access to the Battleship is open during the summer months of April to September between 8am to 6pm. Winter months the hours are 8am to 5pm. The park is open every day except Christmas Day and ticket purchases stop one hour before closing.
Parking restrictions – General parking is $4 for all vehicles entering the park and $28 for all large vehicle. The $28 dollars covers the admission for the driver.
Can You Camp Overnight At The Park? Overnight camping or parking RV’s overnight is strictly prohibited.

What Is Included With My Tour? Self-guided tour on the USS Alabama Battleship, USS Drum submarine and Medal Of Honor Aircraft Pavilion which includes over 28 restored aircraft and simulator.
What Happens If I Get Hungry? The USS Alabama Battleship’s galley is open Sunday through Thursday between 8am and 3pm. 8am and 4pm on Friday and Saturday’s.
Burgers, Pizza, Sandwiches, Snacks and Beverages are available for purchase.
